This is a post, a test, it works! Also, a picture:

Yours truly is the pinkish entity in the foreground, clutching the Foster's can. The brown-and-whitish entities in the background are (distant) relatives.

The name Footprints in the Sand was inspired by the header photograph, which I encountered accidentally. Don't read too much into the name; dwell, instead, upon the sensuous feeling of warm sand dribbling between your toes. Do not think about what the cruel sea will soon do to your footprints...

In other words: Impermanence is the name of the game.

It's not obvious from the picture, but I was actually piloting a narrowboat when it was taken, on the Llangollen canal a few miles east of Chirk (or, as they say in Wales, Y Waun).

(Summer 2005, only days before demented Allah fetishists decided on the London Underground as a splendid place to set off explosives.)
